May Transfer Orientation
Pirate Nation welcomed 140 transfer students and 113 family members to the 1.5 day May Orientation in the Main Student Center. Following check-in in the Main Student Center, students and families heard about academic expectations critical for college success as well as from campus representatives from Career Services, off-campus living, financial aid, parking and transportation and Dowdy Book Store. Family members met with representatives from Student Health, Family and Parent Services, Campus Police and Campus Dining.
Students enjoyed time in the Main Student Center Game Room following dinner. Those that stayed on campus overnight participated in conversations with OAs and other transfer students while enjoying pizza and hot wings.
Some feedback if we can figure out how to use:
- Everyone is so helpful, “I feel like I can ask anyone to assist and the are so willing to help”
- Small group sessions was a great idea, it made students feel as though we understood they need help with making the transition
- Well organized
