Personal and Professional Development
The Personal & Professional Development (PPD) team members are responsible for assessing professional development needs and developing appropriate programs and resources to address continual skill/knowledge enhancement for Student Affairs educators. The work of this committee is designed to complement existing department-specific training and focuses upon Student Affairs competency areas. Professional Development programs will be offered twice per semester and personal development programs will be launched periodically during the semester. The PPD’s mission:
“Build empowered, resourceful and resilient educators through personal and professional growth.”
Professional Development programs will be more of a standard training session lasting 60-90 minutes and delivered as a lecture, panel discussion, roundtable, etc, but will be more a formalized session. These topics will be focus on enhancing the professional side of an employee and may address topics such as, but not limited to self-care, conflict management, leadership, communications, and conference preparation.
The Personal Development programs are intended to be more interactive, informal and even randomly offered throughout the year. These program topics could include a walking club, coffee/dessert breaks, recipe exchanges or cooking demonstrations, etc.
