40 Under Forty Leadership Awards Nomination Information
The Division of Student Affairs of East Carolina University premiered the 40 Under Forty Leadership Awards in April of 2015. This award was created to recognize emerging leaders who received their start at East Carolina University, as well as those who have used their ECU experiences to make significant impacts in their respective professions, local communities, and the world.

We will be celebrating c/o 2023 April 22, 2023
The Division of Student Affairs invites you to participate in our effort to recognize emerging leaders who received their start at East Carolina University. The ECU 40 Under Forty Leadership Awards recognize outstanding leaders, under age 40, that have used their ECU experience to make an impact in their respective professions, local communities, and/or around the world.
Please consider asking fellow ECU alumni, employers, or community leaders to nominate deserving young graduates for this award.
Note: Nominations are closed for class of 2023
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be an ECU graduate (undergraduate or graduate/professional degree)
- Must be under the age of 40 as of December 31, 2022
- Must have made an impact in business, research, artistic, leadership, community, educational and/or philanthropic endeavors
- Must be able to attend the 40 Under Forty Leadership Awards Banquet on April 22, 2023
Important Dates to Remember:
- September 15, 2022 – Nominations close
- January 2023 – Class of 2023 40 Under Forty Honorees announced
- April 22, 2023 – Class of 2023 Honorees recognized at the 40 Under Forty Leadership Awards Banquet
Following the April 2023 celebration, the ECU 40 Under Forty ceremony will transition to a biennial celebration with the next ceremony honoring the Class of 2025.
