August 2026: Upcoming Events and Opportunities
Get a Clue
Get a Clue is ECU’s largest annual involvement fair and will take place on Wednesday, August 26 from 11am-2pm on the Campus Mall (rain date is Thursday, August 27). Organizations and departments are invited to sign up for a table to recruit new members and share information about what you provide to students. This event generally sees several thousand students, particularly new ECU students, each year and is a great way to showcase the resources you provide.

Hungry for Change Conference
The inaugural Hungry for Change Conference takes place on Monday, September 21, 2026, at East Carolina University.
The conference will bring together higher education professionals, students, nonprofit organizations, community partners, food system leaders, and advocates from across North Carolina to share innovative ideas, strengthen partnerships, and explore practical solutions to college food insecurity and basic needs insecurity.

Parents Fund Grant
The Office of Parent and Family Programs is excited to announce that our annual Parents Fund Grant Program is accepting applications.
The Parents Fund Grant Program is open to colleges, departments, and student organizations who need the support for an activity or project which promotes education, leadership, health, safety, campus connectivity, and/or service. This is a one-time funds request that will be reviewed by a committee of parent volunteers during Family Weekend (Sept. 25-27).
Grant funding is made possible by generous gifts from our ECU parents and families to the Parents Fund, which is a unique giving opportunity that allows parents and families to give back to ECU and enhance the student experience. A component of the fund allows for small grants to be provided to departments, offices, or organizations across campus that need support for activities and programs.
Note, not all submissions are approved for full funding. Requests may receive full, partial, or no funding based on the decision of the committee.
Examples of Parents Fund Grants given in the past include support for multiple student organization events and projects, Pirate Media 1 (ECU Student Media) to purchase student podcasting equipment, the Williams-Ross Purple Pantry to purchase a refrigerator, and the student run Occupational Therapy Clinic for supplies.

Central Reservations Tip of the Month
Know the Difference: Half Day vs. Full Day
When reserving a Main Campus Student Center room that requires a setup or technology assistance, campus departments are charged a $75 reservation fee. For events that charge registration, admission, ticketing, or a donation, the applicable room rental rate also applies. When reviewing rental rates, remember that a half day is up to 4 hours, while a full day is more than 4 hours. View CRO’s current rental fees & charges.
