Legacy Residence Hall

East Carolina University has successfully completed a comprehensive renovation of Legacy Hall. Legacy, the second residence hall constructed on College Hill in the early 1960s, will be home to 440 new Pirates this fall.

As part of this comprehensive renovation, the building entrance has been expanded, allowing residents and guests to enter what had previously been the Legacy basement. This allowed for a new elevator and a striking multi-story entrance with a new foyer, new social lounges, and sweeping views with natural light from the rest of the College Hill neighborhood. For the first time ever in ECU’s traditional residence halls, all restrooms within the Legacy living area will be single occupancy. With this move, Campus Living meets growing student demand for increased privacy while enhancing comfort and convenience. In addition to the aesthetic improvements, the building received a new roof along with updated plumbing, electrical, and HVAC equipment.

This renovation follows the renovation of Fleming Hall and allows the closing of Jones Hall, which will undergo a similar year-long renovation. These renovations represent an investment of more than $50 million into the student experience at East Carolina University and will be home to many future generations of Pirates.
