Regional Transformation
Serve & Learn
In March, 21 ECU students and staff participated in the Serve & Learn in Italy program provided by the Center for Leadership & Civic Engagement (CLCE), engaging with community leaders and organizations in Castello Tesino, Trento, and Milan. Through this global service-learning experience, participants worked alongside local partners dedicated to strengthening their communities, including alpine club leaders and public servants in Tesino, as well as refugee advocates and social service professionals in Trento.
For many students, the program marked their very first international travel experience and for some, their first time flying, making the opportunity especially transformative. Supported by campus partners, including Global Affairs and the Truist Leadership Center, the programs provided students with meaningful opportunities to expand their global perspective, deepen their understanding of community engagement, and develop leadership skills through service.
High-impact programs like Service & Learn contribute significantly to student success by connecting classroom learning with real-world application.
Reflecting on the experience, one student shared, “I love seeing how people are so passionate about building up their communities.”
StarRez

StarRez
The purchase of StarRez, a student housing management software, enabled Campus Living to streamline a variety of services for students, making their experience a positive and accessible one. By utilizing this platform, students could sign up for Drop-off, select their room, view messaging, and see packages/mail delivery, allowing them to take ownership of their experience and have a successful stay on campus.
Learn More About Campus LivingSips & Solutions
The Student Government Association (SGA) launched a new series called “Sips & Solutions” a casual “couch talk” event that brought students together with university leadership. Designed to foster open dialogue and genuine connection, the series invited students to relax, enjoy a drink, and discuss topics that matter most to them.
The first Sips & Solutions took place in September with Dr. Brandon Frye, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Held on the Main Campus Student Center Lawn, students enjoyed lemonade and tea while sharing their thoughts. Many students took the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Frye to ask questions about university programs, campus events, and campus opportunities for transfer students.
The series continued with Coach Kim McNeil, ECU Women’s Basketball Head Coach in November, Chancellor Phillip Rogers in March and wrapped up with Coach Blake Harrell, ECU Head Football Coach also in March to promote conversations and connection between students and university leadership.

Campus EMS
The growth and development of Campus Emergency Medical Services (Campus EMS) has been a significant accomplishment for Student Health Services and an important resource for the university community. Over the past year, Campus EMS has expanded its campus presence through event coverage, student outreach, and collaborative response efforts, strengthening awareness and trust across campus.
Campus EMS has also strengthened partnerships with Greenville Fire Rescue and the Pitt County Response Team, enhancing coordination, reliability, and efficiency in emergency response efforts. These collaborative relationships strengthen both campus safety and the university’s connection to community emergency services.
In addition, increased student participation within Campus EMS has expanded service coverage while creating valuable opportunities for leadership, professional development, and hands-on experience in healthcare and emergency response. This growth reflects the university’s commitment to experiential learning and preparing future healthcare professionals.
Collectively, these efforts have enhanced emergency response support, strengthened campus and community partnerships, expanded student leadership opportunities, and further established Campus EMS as a visible and valuable resource in advancing the health, safety, and success of the ECU community.
